For a few minutes I thought Oh no!!

For those who don’t know, former incumbent Sally Hawkins said it was time to move on. I tried to warm up to her, but to me Emily Mortimer is just an older product of the London school of cute girls. I know the show has changed, but Emily’s opening moves are annoying, flat and uninspiring. I tried to get attached to her, she progressed strangely later in the film… the least they could have done was give her a meaningful storyline, she seemed too much like a little wife who didn’t talk much. Sorry Em!

Let’s be honest

Same with Madeleine Harris who plays Judy, great, maybe more lines next time, both of them. Maybe she tried to be Sally Hawkins at times, I’m not sure, but she had big shoes to fill and Sally was a huge success. In the end, everyone played their part very well. So anyway, the charming Peruvian takes the initiative this time and helps the family members. This journey takes them across the world to guess where… A family member is in trouble and the oldest folly and deadly sin is the cause of all the misfortunes.

Forget it if you have a healthy phobia of certain creatures (not snakes)

The scenery in this faraway place is breathtaking, just beautiful, it inspired me to go there, as well as London, which is eerily happy. The film has a lot of fun, action and tears, but for very young children, not very brave by nature, the performance will be less warm, sometimes frightening, sometimes I thought. Visually it is just as fantastic as the previous films, and the storyline is at once flat and a little predictable, but the mysteries revealed were simple enough for a five-year-old to solve… aha. Haha… that does not take away from the impact of the film’s CGI, and one of them, in particular, is heartbreaking.

It seems that Boneville has had a hair transplant, I’m not sure, but he gives a great performance, as always, as do Walters and a few new additions to the story. Hey…
